Mother’s Day 2010

This was my card for my Mother-in-law. She says she needs to start a scrapbook of the cards I make for her, so there was no heading to Hallmark this year. At half pas DARK thirty on Saturday, I went through my stash and created this card. I was inspired by Johanna Peterson – I can't thank her enough – love to check her blog, and the Girlfriend's Club, and Leah's Scrapbook Video Blog when I need a creative FIX. These three gals – Donna Salazar, Leah Fung, and Johanna, feel like old friends!

Oh my GOODNESS. This is my baby. 17 Mother's Days later, this is my big man. He towers over me now. Inside though, he is still my sweet baby! He made me a card, knowing that handmade is so special to me. It was a cluster of origami butterflies (I love butterflies so much!) and they all came apart. Inside was an incredibly humble, sweet handwritten sentiment. This is a card I will treasure always.

I am so proud of our young man. He has surmounted MANY challenges, and always come out ahead, stronger and wiser. This year he made the Oklahoma Honor Society, and he is making all A's. This week he is taking his finals, still working, and helping around the house. Through everything, he always seems to be pretty happy, and he has more patience than I can ever hope to have. He is an inspiration.
My weekend started out well. I got a card from my daughter, a Snoopy one – love that Snoopy. I then headed to a long day of work, got to see lots of moms, and a few husbands buying their wives gift cards – good men! You know how I spent my evening! Mother's Day morning I watched a movie in bed – the Dim Sum Funeral – a great movie! Then, we picked up my husband's mom, and we headed to PF Chang, one of my favorite luxuries. We had a great lunch. Sarah, you were a great server, and we can't wait to see you at Croppinsville. It turns out she's a big scrapbooker. Fate is full of funny twists. Afterwards, we did a little sightseeing, and finished the day with Frappe's – can't get enough of that mocha madness!!!
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. It's back to the grind for me. I have some GREAT classes coming in June. Last minute additions:

My friend CATHY is coming!!! Some of you have taken classes from Cathy in Oklahoma City, maybe some other places. Cathy is coming all the way from TEXAS and has room for TEN in each class. I must have SIGN UPS right away to make sure we can get all the goodies you'll need, so contact me RIGHT AWAY. The classes will be Saturday, June 12. I am also teaching my Altered Birdie class that day, so it will be a FUN day.

C'mon, join us for a GREAT DAY!

OH SCRAP … It Takes a Village!
Sometimes I complete a random project with scraps and doo dads from my file pile (you know, that huge basket or bag or box full of homeless odds and ends), and I get to thinking … "where did I get all this stuff?"
Okay, why GO ASK ALICE… because if you are ever here when my husband is … he usually has to say, go ask Allie. LOL!
I've been organizing ALL week, getting ready for some NEW projects at the studio. Got to clean that slate, you know!
It truly took a VILLAGE to create this little card, just a bunch of special women. I uncovered all these amazing scraps, and odds and ends, and put them to good use.
The flowers and butterfly images were purchased from Scrapbooks Forever of Branson this year during my friend Karen's annual Oscar Weekend in Branson. If you are out this way, it's a WONDERFUL shop, filled with all sorts of treasures. The background paper is Cornucopia from Creative Imaginations – the last piece that says RE-ORDER – I hid that part! Waste not, want not. The "Go Ask Alice" image is from the Down the Rabbit Hole stamp set, by Tweety Jill (a gift from owner Jill Haglund – thank you sweety) and the other layer is from Quick Quotes. I was working on samples for the store, and had leftover paper – can't let that go to waste either. I bought the crepe paper this morning in the party section of a local chain store - I folded it on my scor-it board and then sewed it in place, trimmed it in half, and covered it with Crochet Trim from Maya Road. I was inspired early this morning watching a video from Leah Fung. I love that girlfriends club! I colored the images with colored pencils and added a few highlights with Ice Stickles (a graduation gift from Ranger University).
The picture, with that wonderful sunshine, is NOT so brilliant, but I still wanted to share, especially with my global village.
Thanks everyone, for your role in my card, and the rest of you for looking. Have a wonderful weekend!
